Responsible Play

These are games, not gambling

The games on RushWave (rushwavegame.com) are free-to-play, demo-style social games intended for entertainment only. They do not offer real-money gambling and they provide no casino services. They are not gambling within the meaning of the Gambling Act 2003: you do not pay or stake anything for the chance of winning, and no prize of money or money's worth can be won. Virtual coins are part of the games, have no cash value, and cannot be withdrawn, exchanged, transferred or redeemed for money or prizes of real-world value. Nothing you do in these games can win or lose you money.

Practice or success at social casino gaming does not imply future success at real-money gambling. Real-money gambling works differently, involves financial risk, and is regulated separately in New Zealand.

You must be 18 or over

RushWave is for adults aged 18 and over. We confirm age at the entrance to the site and may ask for proof at any time. The same requirement applies before you follow the link to the mobile game featured here. If you share a device with someone under 18, sign out after playing and consider the parental controls built into your device or browser.

Playing in a healthy way

  • Treat these games as entertainment, in the same way you would a film or a video game.
  • Decide in advance how long you want to play and stop when you reach that limit.
  • Take a break at least every hour.
  • Play when you are rested, not when you are stressed, upset or bored.
  • Keep other activities in your week that have nothing to do with games.
  • Never play to escape a problem — the problem will still be there afterwards.

Signs it may be becoming a problem

Free games carry no financial risk, but play can still become excessive. Consider whether any of these apply to you:

  • you play for longer than you intended, most times you play;
  • you think about the games when you are doing other things;
  • you play instead of sleeping, working, studying, or spending time with people close to you;
  • you feel irritable or restless when you cannot play;
  • you hide how much you play, or people close to you have raised it with you;
  • playing these games has made you curious about betting real money.

If several of these feel familiar, the services below can help. They assist with gaming as well as gambling, and you do not need to have lost money to reach out.

Tools on this site

  • Session reminders: an on-screen reminder after a period of play that you choose, in Settings.
  • Take a break: lock your account for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. This applies to all games on RushWave.
  • Close your account: permanent closure. Write to RushWaveSport@proton.me and we will close it and stop sending you marketing messages.
  • Marketing opt-out: turn off promotional emails and on-site offers in Settings at any time.

These tools apply to your account on this site. Time limits inside the mobile game we link to, and uninstalling it, are handled on your device and through Google Play. Android's Digital Wellbeing settings let you set daily app timers.
